Rules, Rewards & Discipline

We will be learning the following rules of conduct the first week of class and the students will be expected to remember and follow these rules with rewards and consequences beginning week two of class:

  1. Treat others how you want to be treated.

  2. Use inside voices.

  3. Come prepared and on time.

  4. Raise your hand to talk.

  5. Use Walking feet.

  6. Take care of our room and our friends.

The following positive reinforcements will be used for appropriate behaviors displayed by the students:

  1. Specific verbal praise 

  2. Tokens to use for reward/treasure box at end of quarter. (30 minimum to purchase a prize).

  3. Good news notes home.

  4. Punch on Star Student punch card for specific reward of multiple options which the student can choose in advance to work for. I will write the goal on back of the card.

  5. Class wide reward: Marble Jar Party: When the class fills the jar with marbles (based on exemplary behaviors) they will receive an ice cream or pizza party with a movie. 

If a student chooses to break a rule, the following consequences will be given:

  1. Student will repeat the rule broken & state the alternate action/wording which should have been used

  2. Apologize, Write out the rule which was broken and the reason for the rule (demonstrate understanding).

  3. Lose a small privilege (in relation to broken rule if possible) or tokens

  4. Lose an entire privilege (such as recess/free time) & I will call parents

  5. Refer to Principal.

  6. Class-wide/multi-student mis-behaviors will lose marbles from the marble jar.
